Motorcyclist's brush with death when lorry crushes his £4,000 Ducati Caught in a lorry driver's blind spot, this motorcyclist leaps off his bike just in time as his Ducati Monster is crushed beneath him

This jaw-dropping footage shows the terrifying moment a motorcyclist was forced to dive onto the road as a lorry driver bulldozed his Ducati.

The motorist was going about his daily business in Peckham, London, and was waiting at a junction when the HGV took a sharp turn and began rolling towards him.

When the lorry doesn't stop, the man can be heard shouting "F****** hell," before diving onto the road as the lorry ploughs straight into his bike.

To add insult to injury, the lorry driver then starts to drive forward again - dragging the mangled bike with him.

"Wait! Wait!" the motorcyclist cries out.

The lorry driver then decides to attempt a reverse, and the motorcyclist can't believe his eyes, shouting in despair and pointing wildly to his bike.

Only then does the driver get out of his cab and inspect the damage.

The motorcyclist, who does not want to be named but goes by the online name "Bigsmoke", said: "I got away just in the nick of time.

"I was looking for somewhere to park and I saw the lorry coming round the bend.

"I stopped well before the junction because he was taking a wide angle.

"Unfortunately he didn't stop and I jumped off at the last minute.

"I panicked - but it was a good job I got off in time. I could have been killed.

"I know it sounds ridiculous, but my main thought was just, 'well that's bloody inconvenient'. It was lucky I got away with it."

The lorry driver has since exchanged details with Blacksmoke following the smash on Monday.

"I feel now like there's got to be something that can be done to improve blind spot visibility for lorries. There could be a serious accident."

The motorcyclist said the lorry driver apologised for causing the collision, while an onlooker gave him a hug to comfort him
